How to Repair a Pothole

Follow these three steps for a professional, permanent pothole repair. Anyone can do it.

01
REMOVE ALL DEBRIS
Step 1 of 3

Clean the Hole

Remove all loose material, stones and debris from the pothole. This is the most important step — the cold mix needs a firm base to bond to.

  • Use a brush, spade or compressed air
  • Standing water is fine — no drying needed
  • No primer or tack coat required
  • Works on both asphalt and concrete surfaces
  • Do not apply over vegetation or loose soil
Pro tip: For crumbled edges, cut back with an angle grinder to create clean vertical sides — this gives a neater, longer-lasting repair.
Step 2 of 3

Pour the Cold Mix

Open the bag and pour the cold mix asphalt directly into the hole. No mixing, no heating — ready to use straight from the bag.

  • Overfill by 5–10mm above road surface
  • Spread evenly to fill all corners
  • For holes >100mm deep: fill in 50mm layers
  • One 25kg bag covers ±0.5m² at 50mm depth
Deep hole tip: For holes over 100mm, fill and compact in two 50mm layers for maximum density and strength.

03
DONE!
Step 3 of 3

Compact & Done

Drive any vehicle over the repair area, or use a hand tamper. The cold mix bonds and compacts under pressure into a smooth, permanent surface.

  • Vehicle tyre pressure is sufficient
  • Open to traffic immediately after compaction
  • No curing time — no road closure needed
  • Result is flush with existing road surface
  • Compatible with future asphalt overlay
Applications

Where to Use Cold Mix

01
Road Potholes

Municipal roads, provincial roads, national highways. Works on any asphalt surface — permanent repair that doesn't need future removal.

02
Driveway Repair

Residential and commercial driveways, edge breaks and depressions. Neat finish that blends with the existing surface.

03
Parking Lots

Shopping centres, offices, estates. Repair potholes without closing the lot — traffic resumes immediately after compaction.

04
